Leiter Struggles in Yankee Debut
JP Leiter made his Yankee debut on Tuesday night and struggled mightily. The 25-year-old right-hander allowed four runs on seven hits in just three innings of work. He walked two batters and struck out three.
Leiter's outing was a disappointment for the Yankees, who were hoping that he would provide some stability to their rotation. However, Leiter's performance suggests that he is not yet ready to be a frontline starter in the Major Leagues.
Yankees Offense Comes Alive
The Yankees offense came alive in the fourth inning, scoring three runs to take a 3-1 lead. Gleyber Torres hit a two-run double, and Aaron Judge added an RBI single.
The Yankees added another run in the fifth inning on a solo home run by Matt Carpenter. They then put the game away with a three-run eighth inning, highlighted by a two-run double by Anthony Rizzo.
